Rick Wootton

Rick WoottonWhile not a true “native,” I have always considered Colorado Springs to be home; I spent much of my youth on the west side and graduated from Coronado High School in 1975.

About Rick Wootton

I went to Texas for college and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law Enforcement & Police Science from Sam Houston State University in 1980.

  •   I joined the United States Navy in 1982, and in 1986 I received orders to attend law school at the University of Texas, where I earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1989.
  • After 13 years on active duty, I settled in Texas while continuing to serve in the Naval Reserves.
  • My civilian career began by working for the state in Austin, Texas, from 1996 until 2001, serving as an administrative prosecutor for the Texas Department of Insurance and the Texas Medical Board, and serving as an Administrative Law Judge for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
  • I moved to the private sector in 2001, working as a litigation associate for an Insurance Defense firm in Austin, Texas until 2004.
  • In 2005, I retired from the Naval Reserves as a Commander in Navy Judge Advocate’s Corps and came home to Colorado Springs after a 28-year absence to open up a mediation practice.
  • I began working as a trial attorney for Robert J. Anderson in 2007, where I found my “niche” in helping injured people get a fair shake from the insurance industry.
  • I am licensed to practice law in both Colorado (since 2005) and Texas (since 1989), and I am a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association.
  • I am married, and I have two daughters, three step-sons, and four grandchildren (so far).
